Cupcake Decorating 101....sign up now!

It's here! Cupcake Decorating 101. This "clinic" is designed to introduce children to cupcake decorating. They will use decorating tools, icing and pre-made cupcakes to create their own decorated treats. In this clinic we will walk them through each step, demonstrate the basic techniques and assist them as they practice and decorate their own cupcakes.  

Your child will learn "kid-friendly" frosting and decorating tricks that they will love doing. A variety of techniques will be covered during this 101 clinic including piping techniques, coloring icing and working with fondant to create easy flowers and shapes. 

Included in your child's clinic: 6 vanilla cupcakes, Wilton's 12 piece cupcake decorating kit, an hour and a half of dedicated instruction and a Cupcake Decorating 101 certificate upon completion of the clinic.

Clinics are open to all skill levels divided only by age. Classes will be held for children 5-8 and 9-12. If you have a younger child that would like to take this class, please contact me directly to discuss.

Thursday June 13th 1:00-2:30               ages 9-12

Thursday June 27th 1:00-2:30               ages 9-12

Sign ups are available today by emailing us at thecupcakegirl@rocketmail.com. Classes will be filled on a first come, first serve basis and classes are limited to 5 children per class. Please indicate a 2nd and 3rd choice if you want to make sure that your child will get to experience Cupcake Decorating 101! Take advantage of our Introductory pricing of $25 for this educational hands-on clinic in cupcake decorating.

Last Cupcake drop of the School Year!

Can you believe in less than a month our kids will be out of school for the summer?!?  May brings so many activities: Mother's Day, Dance recitals, Sports Tournaments, Graduations and Memorial Day weekend, the official start to summer. With this in mind, I am hosting the last Cupcake Drop of the school year on THURSDAY May 23rd from 3-6. Yes, I know a Thursday is not a traditional day....but I am booked for all other dates! (A good problem to have so I am not complaining!)

Featured flavors will include: Vanilla, chocolate, salted caramel, chocolate chip (vanilla cake w/ chocolate chips baked right in, topped with chocolate icing and mini chocolate chips), Chocolate peanut butter Surprise! (chocolate cake with peanut butter filling dipped in ganache topped with a mini Reese cup), and Crazy for Coconut (Vanilla and coconut cake topped with cream cheese icing and coconut). 

As always, cupcakes at a Drop are $1.50 each. No minimum purchase required. Just in case you aren't familiar with how a drop works....here's a description!

"I try to have a "Cupcake Drop" once a month. I will post on Facebook what day it is and what flavors will be featured. Since I am a home baker, I can't make a lot of different flavors and offer just one every day....so I do it at the drop. You can see what flavors I'll be making and if you want, Pre-order. This means you can pick what flavor(s) you want and they will be boxed and ready when you come to pick them up. You can order 1, 3, 7 or 100. There is no minimum or maximum. If you don't pre-order, you can just stop by my house on the day of the Drop and see what I have left. All cupcakes at the Drop are $1.50 each." 

2013 Strawberry Festival Recipe Contest

I was super excited to be asked to be a judge for the recipe contest at the 2013 Fort Mill Strawberry Festival. Judges, including professional chefs and local business owners, and myself had the very difficult task of tasting so many delicious entries. I had the honor of judging the "Anything Goes" category. My personal favorite, a mixed green salad with grilled chicken topped with a WONDERFUL strawberry dressing. YUM! I even got to spend time with the Queen! It was a fun time despite the cold dreary weather. I do hope they ask me to do this again next year!
